Brophy Prep plans to sell Olympic-size pool property to homebuilder

Phoenix’s only competition-certified, Olympic-size swimming pool will be demolished to make way for a housing community.

Several groups that use the pool are working to find a comparable facility in the city.

Brophy College Preparatory, an all-male Jesuit high school in central Phoenix, plans to sell its 10-acre property near 32nd Street and Camelback Road to Ryland Homes.

The home developer plans to build 35 two-story, single-family houses on the property.

The Camelback East Village Planning Committee intended to discuss the issue today, but city officials said the topic was rescheduled for September.
