The Sahuarita Town Council this weekend will interview three finalists for the Town Manager position. All have been town managers in Arizona, though none in communities larger than Sahuarita.
The candidates are:
•Himanshu Patel, 39, who was town manager in Florence for 10 years before leaving in December.
•L. Kelly Udall, 50, who has been Pinetop-Lakeside town manager for eight years.
•Robert G. Yandow, 62, who has been town manager in York, Maine, for seven years.
A fourth finalist dropped out of the running last week.
Patel notified the Florence Town Council on May 7, 2012, that he would step down as Town Manager on Dec. 14, saying he wanted a new challenge. Since December, he has worked as an Interim Assistant Pinal County Manager.
Patel was paid $115,000 a year as Town Manager and supervised 63 full-time and 88 part-time employees for a town with an annual budget of $43 million and a 2011 estimated population of 25,517, which includes inmates in three prisons. He oversaw an $8 million expansion of the town wastewater treatment plant and annexations totaling 59 square miles.
