Arizona economic-development officials are reporting higher interest from prospective employers, largely from California and other Western states, that have expressed interest in expanding or relocating here.
The Arizona Commerce Authority said the number of companies in its pipeline has increased to 371 at the end of its third fiscal quarter ended March 31, up from 270 in the same period of 2012.
Companies that have expressed interest in Arizona represent nearly $7.7 billion in potential capital expansion and nearly 62,000 potential jobs, said Sandra Watson, president and chief executive officer of the Arizona Commerce Authority. Companies expressing interest come from a range of industries including manufacturing, information-technology, renewable energy, consumer products and finance/banking.
