Saying mission accomplished, Scottsdale city treasurer resigning

Scottsdale City Treasurer David Smith has resigned effective July 5, 2013.

The notice of resignation came at the end of business Wednesday, May 9, according to an e-mail sent to the Scottsdale Independent.

Treasurer Smith says he has accomplished what he set out for during his tenure at the city of Scottsdale.

“When I accepted this position over three and half years ago, it was with the belief I could facilitate the council and citizen desire to institute a new, improved form of governance — one that would better inform the council on the financial affairs of the city and benefit the citizens of Scottsdale by exhibiting greater ‘transparency’ in decision-making,” he said in his resignation letter.

Over his time of employment, Treasurer Smith says that goal has been accomplished.
