Resident puts city’s fears on Global rate increase before judge

Despite a light turnout during Monday’s public hearing on proposed rate increases by Global Water, residents reiterated their concerns heard during the past several months that the burden would be felt most by young families and those on fixed incomes.

Global is petitioning the Arizona Corporation Commission for a water-rate increase for the second time in four years to those who receive hookup from either the Palo Verde Utilities Company or Santa Cruz Water Company, which provide sewer and water services to a majority of Maricopa homes.
