2014 Chandler City Council election: 5 take first step toward run

The next Chandler City Council election may be nine months away, but evidently it is not too early for potential candidates to start preparing.

Five people have filed the necessary paperwork to begin raising money and collecting signatures to get on the ballot, Chandler City Clerk Marla Paddock said.

A few more have inquired about the process but not yet filed paperwork, she said.

There will be three City Council seats up for election in 2014. The mayor’s seat also will be on the ballot.

The seats held by council members Trinity Donovan, Kevin Hartke and Jeff Weninger will be up for election.

Donovan and Weninger are not eligible to run again because of term limits.
