Scottsdale council OKs 2 major General Plan changes

Scottsdale City Council has unanimously approved two major General Plan amendments making way for single- and multi-family housing projects in both the northern and southern regions of the city.

The municipal blessings came at the Nov. 19 city council meeting, which also doubled as the annual Scottsdale General Plan meeting.

Arizona requires one city council hearing be designated each calendar year to consider all of the year’s major General Plan amendment applications.

The city of Scottsdale requires two separate planning commission hearings prior to a recommendation vote to the Scottsdale City Council, at which point a two-thirds majority vote is required for the amendment process to be validated, according to state law.
