State Water Resources chief joins mining giant

The director of the state Department of Water Resources has stepped down to join mining giant Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc.

Sandra Fabritz-Whitney left the agency last week, just as it is embarks on a statewide tour to tout a new plan outlining the need for a strategic water plan. The agency concludes that the state isn’t facing water shortages, but needs a sound strategy to ensure no shortages develop.
