The Arizona Corporation Commission began hearings last week on EPCOR Water Co.’s rate increase request for its customers in Fountain Hills.

EPCOREPCOR, formerly Chaparral City Water Co., is seeking a 34.8 percent rate increase for the Chaparral district, including the town’s 13,600 customers. If an increase is approved, it would take effect May 1.

The hearings began Feb. 18 and will conclude on Monday, Feb. 24, said Rebecca Wilder, commission spokeswoman. Public comment was heard Feb. 18, but there are still opportunities for those who wish to comment on the request.

Comments are accepted on the commission’s website, azcc.gov, and by calling the commission’s Listen Line, 602-542-0222. Also, hearings are streamed live on the commission’s website.
