Online petition will fight Glendale’s request for state Super Bowl funding

Glendale’s request for Super Bowl-related state funding got its first reading in the Arizona House of Representatives this week, while other agencies continue to work behind the scenes on a broader bill.

Meanwhile, a Surprise man has launched a petition online to fight any move to help cover Super Bowl expenses.

House Bill 2547, introduced by Majority Leader David Gowan, asks the state to reimburse cities for public-safety costs that mount when hosting certain major events, such as the Super Bowl.
