Turning the Page: Newly hired city manager quits one day before he was to start

Donald Adams, who was supposed to start work Monday morning as Page city manager, emailed officials at 7:55 a.m. Sunday to say he is not taking the job.

Donald AdamsThe email, which was sent to Councilor David Tennis, Mayor Bill Diak, interim City Manager Rick Olson and Human Resources Director Kay Eddlemon, cited a recently discovered a personal medical condition as the reason, Diak said Sunday evening.

Adams said he wasn’t returning to his most recent job—economic development director for the city of Taylorsville, Utah—but that he’d taken a new position near Salt Lake City, where he’d have access to the type of medical care he’d need, Diak said.

City council approved Adams as new city manager on Feb. 7 at a salary of $105,000.
