Peoria Vice Mayor Ron Aames has decided to run for re-election in his district instead of running for mayor.
Aames said he wants to continue representing the Palo Verde District because it allows him to communicate more frequently with residents.
“I interact with citizens on a daily basis,” he said. “They know me and they contact me, so I enjoy that a lot. You’re more on the ground in the districts.”
Aames won’t run unopposed. Michael Finn, 47, the former chief financial officer for the Peoria Unified School District, filed paperwork to run for the seat, saying he wants to bring “a different perspective” to the council.
This election could result in substantial turnover on the seven-member council.
