Gilbert reveals downtown university design

Newly released renderings show the proposed design of a four-story college campus in the heart of downtown Gilbert, where Chicago-based St. Xavier University plans to open in August 2015.

St. Xavier plans to offer degrees in nursing, education and business in a single building at the northwestern corner of Vaughn Avenue and Ash Street in the historic Heritage District. Site plans show room for potential expansion on adjacent land to the west and northeast.

The building prominently features brick, glass and metal panels surrounding a soaring entrance feature facing Vaughn Avenue to the south. The building’s northern side includes space for a rooftop terrace overlooking trees and green space at ground level.
