Arizona State is pairing national and local architectural and construction firms to design and build a new Sun Devil Stadium.

HNTB Corporation, based in Kansas City, will team with the Phoenix branch of Gould Evans to design a projected 60,000-seat stadium at the current Sun Devil Stadium location.

ASU also announced Thursday the hiring of Hunt Construction, with regional offices

in Phoenix, Indianapolis and Dallas, and Tempe-based Sundt Construction, Inc. as construction manager at risk, a contracting method built around collaboration with the architect for time and cost savings.

The stadium’s projected cost is $225 million although that could increase based on fundraising, which began with a $50-million drive in January already considered a success. More news on fundraising is expected later this fall.
