A ‘tea party’ for Republic leadership at state Capitol

The Arizona Legislature will convene Jan. 12 with an almost entirely new slate of leaders.

The Republican majority team has taken a notable turn toward the conservative wing of the party, with many of the new leaders having strong “tea party” support.

It’s most pronounced with the incoming House leadership headed by Speaker-elect David Gowan and underscored by the departure of Sens. John McComish and Adam Driggs from top roles in Senate caucus.

Here is a look at the leaders.
