Bill should delay action in definition of ‘political committee’ case, state says

A top official from the Secretary of State’s Office said the retroactivity clause in its bill to rewrite the definition of “political committee” should prevent the dismissal of any pending enforcement actions based on the old definition.

Secretary of State Michele Reagan’s office drafted legislation to rewrite the definition in response to a federal judge’s ruling that the old one was unconstitutionally vague and overbroad.
