A re-recall for Glendale City Councilman Gary Sherwood

A political group wants to remove Sherwood from office because he supported a West Valley casino, backed an extension of a sales-tax increase and pushed for city policy changes to allow wider use of digital billboards outside the Westgate Entertainment District.

The Recall Councilman Gary Sherwood Committee, which launched its effort last month, is gathering signatures on petitions. The group needs to collect 2,752 valid signatures by June 20 from registered voters who live in Sherwood’s Sahuaro District.

A previous recall effort failed in December because City Clerk Pam Hanna ruled the petitions did not have required language at the top of each sheet and did not disclose whether the petition gatherers were being paid.
