[ANALYSIS] Self-inflicted trauma: Glendale officials seem to have gone out of their way to damage city’s reputation

GlendaleThe city of Glendale continually finds itself fighting to overcome self-inflicted wounds.

The latest is senior management flight. City Manager Brenda Fischer is out (the reason varies depending on the source), and others may be following. This has developed into a crisis of confidence that might lead Glendale to lose opportunities for new business and development, simply because it appears unstable.

“We’re supposed to be the anchor of the West Valley,” said Robert Heidt Jr., president and CEO of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce. “It gets a little frustrating for Glendale to be the butt of jokes or hear people saying, ‘What’s going on in Glendale?'”
