Debate over route of high-capacity transit in Glendale

High-capacity transit in Glendale is a decade away, but not everyone sees eye to eye on the route it should take to get here from Phoenix and who should pay for it.

Councilmember Jamie Aldama asked what would happen if Glendale wants to bring light rail north from 19th Avenue in Phoenix to downtown Glendale via Glendale Avenue, rather than coming west along Camelback Road.

“If City of Phoenix moves forward on going west, will there be a chance that we may lose federal funding?” he asked.
