Solar proposal from small electric co-op moving through Corporation Commission ahead of others

While other utilities in the state have more solar customers, a proposal from a small electric co-op in southern Arizona is moving through the Corporation Commission first, potentially setting the stage for upcoming solar fee battles.

Trico, a 38,000-member electric co-op with about 1,200 solar customers, is asking the commission to decrease the amount it pays solar members for excess power created by their solar panels and sent back to the grid.

Solar users would see a 30 percent cut in savings each month, according to Trico.
