Tucson faces tax hike, dip into reserve funds

The city will spend part of its rainy day fund to balance next fiscal year’s proposed $1.4 billion budget, pushing some difficult budget decisions down the road.

Interim City Manager Martha Durkin presented the spending plan, an 8.2 percent increase from this year, to the mayor and City Council Tuesday.

That figure includes $945 million in operating expenses, $151.5 million in debt payments and $292 million in construction projects.
