Watchdog group prepares to sue Corporation Commission over public records

A national government watchdog group has hired a lawyer and is prepared to sue the Arizona Corporation Commission to compel the release of public records.

The Checks and Balances Project hired Dan Barr, a constitutional and media attorney with Perkins-Coie, after a records request filed March 11 went unfulfilled.

The project’s executive director, Scott Peterson, is seeking records between Commissioner Bob Stump and any contacts with Arizona Public Service representatives about “people’s access to low-cost solar,” the project’s news said. The request includes text messages.
