Babeu considering CD 1 run again, advisor says

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu appears to be edging closer to running for Congress after releasing a poll from his campaign director showing he has support in the 1st Congressional District.

The poll comes on the heels of Democratic U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick’s announcement that she will run for U.S. Senate, leaving the swing seat open in 2016. The race is expected to draw a host of Republican and Democratic contenders.

Babeu, who ran for the 1st District in 2012 but dropped out of the race, would be a formidable GOP candidate if he ran again, according to the poll, campaign director Mike Noble said.
