A Maricopa County election official on Tuesday certified that a political group has gathered enough valid signatures to force a recall election of a Glendale city councilman.
The Recall Councilman Gary Sherwood Committee has 2,999 valid signatures on its petitions, 247 more than it needed to cause a November election, according to Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell.
“We knew that it would clear,” said Anna Lee, committee chairwoman. “I’m happy it’s official but I’m not surprised.”
