If a little sunshine is the best medicine, Arizona legislators seem afraid to take their proper dosage.
Dozens of lawmakers signed on to bills this year intended to keep information from Arizonans, from a measure to hide the addresses of lawmakers to efforts to keep public debate closed to the public. Most of the bills failed.
Lawmakers argued in favor of the changes by saying the legislative process and government in general is already sufficiently open to the public. They said the proposed changes would protect themselves, citizens and public employees from harassment.
