Meilbeck steps down early as interim Flagstaff city manager

Council will accept Meilbeck’s resignation during its 4 p.m. consent agenda Tuesday and formally appoint Deputy City Manager Josh Copley to take over the office for the next 18 months. Meilbeck will return to his position as the CEO of Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transit Authority.

According to the agreement signed by Council last month, Copley will serve as city manager for 18 months and make $180,000 a year. He was hired as Flagstaff’s new city manager in July after the council decided not to interview any of 14 semifinalists presented by a consultant. Council plans to reopen the search for a new city manager after Copley’s term expires and he retires.
