Sunrun, one of the nation’s largest solar leasing companies, called on the San Francisco Giants Monday to dump Pacific Gas and Electric Co. as a sponsor, the latest salvo in a bitter fight between the solar industry and California utilities.

Sunrun, based in San Francisco, sent the team a letter urging that the Giants immediately drop PG&E, a longtime sponsor. Sunrun argued that the utility, California’s largest, misleads customers by advertising its commitment to renewable power while urging state regulators to impose a new monthly charge on homeowners who install solar arrays.
