Mesa mayor reflects on 1st year in office

A year and a week after becoming mayor of the country’s 38th largest city, Mesa Mayor John Giles summed up the year simply: “It’s been a great year,” he said.

Giles spoke to the media Wednesday about issues he deemed important his first year in office.

He said he’d been reflecting on the year, looking at the city’s priorities, evaluating where the city is and what the city can do next.
