[OPINION] West Valley cities should not be chopped liver

If the West Valley wants to escape being the “also-rans” in the Phoenix area, we must figure out a way for our communities to work together more effectively.

I, for one, have long lost patience with being described as the country cousins of Phoenix and the rest of the Valley.

We got another unwanted reminder of our second-class citizenship in a newspaper editorial based on the idea that Glendale “needs to learn to live within its limits” — and that, by implication, any thoughts of rivaling Phoenix or the East Valley needs to face reality. In other words, Glendale, or any other West Valley city, should not have any delusions of grandeur when it comes to hosting regionally important facilities.
