An 8 percent rate increase proposed by Arizona Public Service Co. has some area residents wondering how the utility company can justify such a change.
Susan, an Arizona City woman who asked not to have her last name published, said APS needs to prove it financially needs to increase rates before she can support any changes.
She doesn’t like how the company closed its Casa Grande downtown office this year and questions whether APS really has been experiencing lower revenues when it keeps scaling back expenses such as district offices.
APS claimed a shrinking number of customers utilizing the Casa Grande office was reason to close it in April, along with seven other offices in Arizona.
