Kathryn Thompson is quick with a sarcastic joke or breezy one-liner on the phone. She details a frustrating water bill notice and comments “I’m a rockstar” all in one breath, punctuated by genuine laughter, and she notes how kind the local utility company was to service her meter and bill her for it even though she never requested the visit.
Thompson is a Maricopa resident trying to keep a sense of humor, and the local utility testing her patience is Global Water Resources.
“I’m a foster parent, so it’s not like I want to be in the middle of this,” she said. “I don’t want to be the face and voice, but at this point, someone has got to be because we’re all just dealing with this.
“Collectively, we have to take this on.”
