ASU unveils $120M dorm built for engineers — complete with 3D printers, laser cutters and design tools

Arizona State University — which has the biggest engineering school in the nation — is unveiling its new $120 million dorm for engineers, featuring on-site digital classrooms and makerspaces that include 3D printers, laser cutters and other design tools for budding engineers.

The 1,600-person co-ed residential community was designed specifically for ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering students in mind.

The engineering school has more than 20,000 students enrolled, offering 39 graduate and 24 undergraduate degree programs. It ranks No. 2 for most engineering degrees awarded to women, with 21.6 female graduates, behind Purdue University.
