Florence working on new transportation plan

FLORENCE — A long-term strategy for building, maintaining and expanding Florence’s transportation networks will be developed in a new transportation master plan.

Town officials staff recently learned the town had won a $125,000 “Planning Assistance for Rural Areas” grant from the Arizona Department of Transportation to develop the plan, Assistant Town Manager Jess Knudson said. The plan will analyze traffic data, trends and development patterns.

Florence has also applied for a grant from the Maricopa Association of Governments for a bike and pedestrian master plan.
