Chinese Cultural Center fight takes new turns

The fight over the future of the Chinese Cultural Center development in Phoenix is taking some new turns.

The private equity firm that now owns the Chinese center on 44th Street near Van Buren Street is offering to preserve some of its iconic Asian architecture and help develop a new cultural center in downtown Phoenix.

That comes as activists wanting to preserve the Chinese center petition for help from the Phoenix City Council.

The development is known for its Chinese architecture, gardens and signs.
