An Arizona dad built a giant pirate ship treehouse for his Casa Grande community

Yelling “Land ho!” from the towering crow’s nest of a pirate ship or hoisting a skull and crossbones flag are scenes most kids only see in movies. But Steven Hill, 49, is making that dream a reality at his Casa Grande, Arizona, home.

Hill, a retired paralegal and owner of a property management company, single-handedly built a 35-foot-tall pirate ship in a backyard tree using donated lumber from his local Home Depot and decorations from Goodwill and the Salvation Army. He completed the year-long project last year. Now, it’s open to families to visit.
