Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton announces he will resign May 29. If you haven’t heard, the mayor is resigning in order to run for Congress. Stanton’s petitions are due May 30.”  Read the mayor’s resignation statement in AZCentralhttp://bit.ly/2xcFnuz

Single-family home size increases at the start of 2018. Although this size increase in Q1 “runs counter to the recent prevailing trend,” NAHB Chief Economist Robert Dietz says it may just be a blip. He’s forecasting a reversal, and he also has info on “new multifamily apartment size” and why it’s “down compared to the pre-recession period” — in Eye On Housinghttp://bit.ly/2LmEwKP

Here are some of Arizona’s top brokers of 2017. AzBigMedia presents some of the “top performers for 2017” along with renderings/images of “notable deals” — from “big industrial deals to blockbusters multifamily transactions to continued interest in the Valley’s urban core.” http://bit.ly/2IF587R

The Wigwam celebrates 100 years of its first building. “A part of The Wigwam, The Organization House is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year,” and West Valley View takes a look at the building’s “historic roots” — how it grew into “an oasis in the desert” from what began in 1918 as “just a sitting room, kitchen, bedrooms, and terrace to house Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company executives visiting the cotton farm…” http://bit.ly/2KMrchw

Arizona will get 2023 Super Bowl. Talk about SUPER news “coming out of the NFL owners meetings in Atlanta”! And plenty of of time to prepare for the flood of people expected in the Valley, all helping to produce what could be a “gross economic impact” of close to ONE-BILLION DOLLARS! Awesome! (The game itself should be pretty cool, too.) More in AZ Business Magazinehttp://bit.ly/2GHUzyW

Despite pledge, Gosar still does not own home in district. However, there is no law requiring members of Congress, including Rep. Gosar, to live within their district. READ ON in Rose Law Group Reporterhttp://bit.ly/2IIKunz

FAKE ID – Schools boss creates a big bang with evolution policy proposal. “[Superintendent of Public Instruction Diane Douglas] is trying to downplay — and in some cases remove entirely — references to evolution in the standards of what students are supposed to be taught in Arizona high schools.” Does Douglas have her sights set on references to “intelligent design” (ID) instead? She calls that notion “fake news.” Capitol Media Services’ Howard Fischer reports in Arizona Capitol Times. http://bit.ly/2kidGqS

Former briefer Spicer says White House daily briefing ‘not worth it anymore.’ Holding to the view that the “briefing has become more of a show than an outlet of information for the media,” former White House press secretary Sean Spicer “says it may be time to do away with the briefing entirely.” Arizona Daily Star reports that Spicer made the remarks in a C-SPAN appearance on Sunday. (After which he then zipped out of the studio on his Segway-ized podium? Just asking.) http://bit.ly/2IIPSXq
