Maricopa wins award for Edison Road development

Edison Road is no longer a road to nowhere. In fact, it’s a source of pride and accomplishment for the city of Maricopa.

At a City Council meeting Tuesday, city staff announced it has received the Public Works Project of the Year award from the Arizona chapter of the American Public Works Association.

The award was for completing the expansion of Edison Road.

Up until nearly a year ago, Edison Road was a dead end. However, the city expanded that, and it is now home to the Engine 575 fire station, the temporary fire administration building and the public works building. The project also connected the road to State Route 238.
