Valley city names new economic development director

Former Surprise Assistant City Manager Rick Buss was chosen as the new economic development director for the city of Peoria.

While working in Surprise, Buss oversaw the economic development, community development, water resource management, and information technology departments. Before working in Surprise, he was the founding city manager for the city of Maricopa, which grew from 1,500 to nearly 35,000 residents while he was in that job.

Buss is also co-founder of Envirosafe Technical and served as a vice president of Pentagon Technologies/MPW Industrial Services and development director for Scitec.
