In her most extensive public comments since U.S. Sen. John McCain’s death, his widow, Cindy McCain, urged the public to follow his example and “get into the arena and fight.”
John McCain’s calling was “serving a cause greater than ourselves,” she writes in a USA TODAYopinion piece.
Cindy McCain doesn’t specify what the public should fight for but says the McCain Institute for International Leadership at Arizona State University, which promotes what it calls character-driven global leadership, “is now my home, and my mission.”
“It is now up to us — all of us — to get into the arena and fight,” she wrote. “Each of us must do something to fight for a greater cause. We can lead, we can support, we can contribute, we can donate — but we must do something.”
