After several tries, there will finally be homes built between Ironwood High School and Glendale Nazarene Church.

The Glendale Planning Commission last week approved the preliminary plat for a development called Cactus Glen that will build 34 two-story houses on the 8.1-acre vacant dirt lot near 59th Avenue and Cactus Road.

Ordinarily, City Council would have final say over a home development because most require a zoning amendment, a general plan amendment or both. This development requires neither and because the Planning Commission has final say over preliminary plats, the development will not be voted on by Council. The developers, the Empire Group, will need to submit a final plat later in the process for approval by city staff.
