Construction jobs continue to climb

The U.S has added 315,000 construction sector jobs over the past 12 months, a 4.5% increase compared to September 2017. Florida had the highest annual growth in the construction sector at 14.8%, which includes both residential and non-residential construction. Georgia (12.2%) and Arizona (10.8%) round out the top three.

NAHB economist Danushka Nanayakkara-Skillington observed in an Eye on Housing blog post that across the 44 states that reported construction sector jobs data to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 26 states had an increase in September, 14 states reported a decline, and four states remained unchanged compared to August.
