Latest land purchase comes on heels of recent deals in Mesa and Phoenix

Taylor Morrison Home Corp. paid $4.9 million for 31 acres in Surprise, a rapidly growing suburb northwest of Phoenix, as the company continues to expand in the Valley.

The property — southeast of 175th Avenue and Waddell Road — is platted for 137 lots, said Jeremy McArthur, president of Phoenix-based McArthur Land Co. and broker on the deal.

McArthur represented the seller in the deal, Pinnacle Land Development Inc., which had been leasing the land to a farmer.
