Voters in a northwest Valley suburb will choose a mayor this November from two women who are distinguishable not only by their philosophy on how to run their city, but also by their age.
El Mirage Mayor Lana Mook, 71, is 43 years older than her challenger, Alexis Hermosillo, 28.
Both have different ideas for how El Mirage should be run, and both believe their age puts them at an advantage over the other.
Mook, who is finishing her second term as mayor, touts her many years of experience in the public and private sectors, first working in health care for 35 years before becoming mayor in 2010.
Hermosillo, a lifelong El Mirage resident, says her youth will bring new ideas and innovation to a city in need of a new leader and new direction.
They both say, in the next four years, El Mirage needs to become a safer place with more jobs and businesses. They have different ideas for how the city should get there.
