Aldi grocery store chain purchases more land in metro Phoenix

German retailer Aldi Inc. has spent more than $2 million to buy land in Peoria for one of its discount grocery stores.

The Peoria Aldi store has been publicly discussed since May 2018, but Aldi has recently finalized the purchase on the property, according to documents filed with Maricopa County.

Aldi purchased the land – located near Lake Pleasant Parkway and Happy Valley Road – from Thompson Thrift Retail Group, which is building a 10-acre retail project there called Sunrise Promenade. The development will feature several other retailers, including a Black Rock Coffee and Sherwin Williams.
