Marana may annex Pinal Airpark, surrounding land

Officials in the town of Marana are considering annexing a large swath of land in southern Pinal County.

Pinal County Supervisor Anthony Smith, R-Maricopa, whose district includes southern Pinal where the annexation would occur, said the proposal would be a “win-win” for both Pinal County and the town. Smith noted the economic development prospects of Pinal Airpark, a county-owned facility that houses a number of growing aerospace companies, would be enhanced by being in Marana.

Pinal Airpark is only a few miles inside Pinal boundaries and would be included in a potential annexation.
