Gilbert Heritage District

The town of Gilbert is looking at whether to allow rooftop signs in its restaurant and bar heavy Heritage District.

The area along Gilbert Road has become a top culinary and entertainment destination with popular brands such as Barrio Queen. Oregano’s, Culinary Dropout and OHSO Brewery. The Gilbert Planning Commission will look at possible zoning text amendment to allow for rooftop signs in the Heritage District area.

The Planning Commission will consider the idea at its October 2 meeting with a focus on the signs promoting and brand the Heritage District area.

Restaurants and bars in the area already have neon and other signs on the sides and fronts of building. The rooftop sign proposal would not be to promote or advertise specific businesses, according to city documents filed with the Planning Commission.
