Bob Littlefield is the latest person to announce a bid for Scottsdale mayor in what he views as a referendum on development in the city.
The former Scottsdale City Council member is the second person to announce a mayoral run, following Councilwoman Virginia Korte earlier this month. Councilwoman Suzanne Klapp, who is considering a run, has said she will announce her decision soon.
Littlefield served on the City Council for 12 years, from 2002 to 2014, and is married to Councilwoman Kathy Littlefield.
He ran for mayor in 2016 and lost by a wide margin to Mayor Jim Lane, who now faces term limits. That race was unusually nasty for Scottsdale, with Littlefield calling Councilwoman Linda Milhaven a Lane supporter, the “Great Satan,” and Lane’s campaign calling Littlefield “Baghdad Bob,” a reference to Saddam Hussein’s information minister.
