There is an unsettled split in northeastern Arizona, where President Donald Trump won by 1 percentage point in 2016, but no Republican has won a congressional race there since Paul Gosar did 10 years ago.
This year’s congressional race features Rep. Tom O’Halleran, D-Ariz., a centrist seeking a third term in Washington, and Republican Tiffany Shedd, a lawyer and cotton farmer trying to snap her party’s bad fortunes.
On Thursday, the two candidates will debate who should lead Arizona’s 1st Congressional District at Arizona PBS (Channel 8). The debate is scheduled to air at 5 p.m. and will be livestreamed on azcentral.com.
