Commission ‘regrettably’ approves next step for Glen Lakes

With the only consensus being one of regret, the Glendale planning commission approved another step in the upcoming — and controversial — Trevino at Glen Lakes neighborhood development.

Last month the city council voted to remove the 66-year-old city-owned Glen Lakes Golf Course in favor of a 173-home community on the site’s 42.8 acres. The council approved the rezoning plan from Homes By Towne despite the planning commission recommending unanimously in September to deny the development request.

With the green light to go forward set, the next step was for the planning commission in its advisory role at its Nov. 5 meeting at the Glendale Civic Center to either approve or deny the submitted preliminary plat for Trevino at Glen Lakes. The engineering document presents a scaled drawing of the future subdivision for review.
