The Scottsdale Unified School District community is invited to a 6 p.m. Thursday, May 13, meeting to hear about Phoenix Rising’s proposal to redevelop the 68th Street and Oak campus.

The proposal includes a longterm lease agreement between the two entities, which district officials say would be no more than 20 years.

Tonalea Elementary School at 6801 E. Oak St. closed to students at the end of the 2013-14 school year.

In 2020, SUSD was approached by Phoenix Rising FC, the Valley’s professional soccer franchise, with a proposal to develop the elementary campus as a multifunctional community facility that would be home of its youth soccer program.

The proposal offers public amenities to neighbors and the south Scottsdale community, district officials say.

The meeting is being offered in person at Coronado High School, 7501 E. Virginia Ave., or virtually.
